For as long as humans have adorned themselves, we’ve carried meaning on the body—amulets for protection, small vessels for prayers, hollow forms built to guard what words couldn’t hold. These objects were never decorative; they were anchors, evidence of who we were, what we feared, what we loved, and what we hoped would guide us home. In this six-hour, technique-forward workshop, we step into that lineage with our hands in the metal, learning to build amulets and small prayer-box forms through the disciplined, practical work of silversmithing. We focus on hollow-form construction—soldering, shaping, filing, etching—bringing dimensional sterling silver forms into being with clarity and intention.
We work small, but the history hums beneath every move. You’ll feel it when you score your metal, when the form closes, when the hollow space inside becomes a container for meaning—your meaning, your story, your hand. Throughout the day, we’ll explore the architecture of hollow forms, build small sterling boxes and amulet structures, create and fit bezels for stones or found objects, and use chemical etching to introduce raw, ancient, lived-in surfaces. The emphasis is on clean construction and confident technique, paired with an understanding of why these forms have endured for centuries.
You’ll leave with a finished ring or pendant that carries not only the skill of hollow-form construction, but the deeper thread running through the work—that you are part of a long and ancient line of makers who built jewelry to protect, to remember, and to last. A small object, carefully made. A hollow form shaped by your hands. A wearable piece of history, carrying forward whatever you choose to place inside.
On the final evening, you’re invited into an optional deep-journey session led by two trained herbalists who work with more than a hundred different plants, tinctures, and earth-based preparations. This is a guided, intuitive process designed to soften the edges, open the inner doors, and help you access whatever wisdom is waiting beneath the surface. It’s held at night, in a safe and intentional container, and offered as an additional experience for those who feel called to explore a deeper layer of their creative and personal alignment.
