The
Gathered
Object
Some objects
ask to be kept.
A stone gathered on a journey. A fragment of metal. Something broken, forgotten, or held onto for reasons we cannot quite explain.
The Gathered Object is an exploration of unconventional setting techniques using stones, scraps, found materials and personal relics.
Rather than forcing each object into a traditional bezel, we respond to its shape, history and character — building settings with handmade prongs, wire, cold connections and fragments of metal that become part of the final composition.
The process is intuitive, sculptural and deeply personal, allowing discarded or meaningful objects to be gathered together and transformed into jewelry with presence, story and a life of its own.
Make room for
the unexpected.
Over five days, we explore nontraditional stone setting and hollow forms through an intuitive, sculptural approach to metalsmithing.
Handmade prongs, wire, cold connections and fragments of metal become a language for joining unlikely materials.
Bring the objects that intrigue you. Together, we will experiment, problem-solve and allow each piece to reveal its own direction.
A new language
for making.
Unconventional settings
Build handmade prongs and expressive structures around irregular stones and found objects.
Hollow forms
Explore dimensional metal forms that create space, volume and presence.
Cold connections
Join contrasting materials through thoughtful mechanical connections and wire.
Personal composition
Gather fragments, memories and materials into jewelry that carries your own visual language.
“The beauty is not in making every object fit. It is in discovering what each object might become.”
This workshop is about technique, certainly. But it is also about trust: trusting your eye, your hands, and the quiet pull toward materials that mean something to you.
