November Workshop: Architectural Structures: Headdresses, Collars, Arm Bands + More to Build Your Body of Work
Architectural Structures: Headdresses, Collars, Arm Bands + More to Build Your Body of Work
A Semi-Private, Soul-Forward Metalsmithing Immersion with Susan Lenart
Limited to 8 artists | Held in my personal studio: Screw Factory, Lakewood Ohio
5-Day Studio Workshop: Dates: November 5th - 9th, 2025
What if your work began to speak—not just in technique, but in truth?
What if you were gently guided into discovering and building the kind of powerful, personal pieces that only you can make?
This is your invitation.
In this intimate, five-day workshop, you’ll step into my private studio and into a deeper relationship with your work — one rooted in symbolism, intuition, and bold, sculptural form.
This is where your stories meet your structures. Where metal becomes meaning.
Where you take the risk — and find something extraordinary on the other side.
✦ WHY THIS WORKSHOP ✦
Most jewelers follow the rules.
We’ll rewrite them.
Together, we’ll go beyond the expected — past traditional bezels and well-worn techniques — to build new forms from scratch. Forms that feel like you. That carry memory, energy, and meaning.
You’ll learn to create architectural adornments that hold space for the mysterious — using wire, sheet metal, relics, stones, and story.
Expect to leave with work that doesn’t just look beautiful — but feels alive.
Expect to be changed.
✦ WHAT YOU’LL EXPERIENCE ✦
Over five full days, we’ll explore a deeply intuitive creative process — grounded in metalsmithing technique and elevated through personal symbolism, trust, and risk-taking.
You’ll learn:
• How to build and solder wire structures with strength and elegance
• Techniques for creating sculptural containers, bezels, prongs, and tension settings
• How to craft headdresses, collars, arm bands, and more — wearable structures of identity and story
• Riveting, cold connection, and attachment techniques for body adornment
• How to incorporate found objects, relics, and non-traditional materials into your work
• To let go of “right” and “wrong” — and embrace instinct, shape, and form as your guide
✦ BONUS DAY: Liquid Enamel Exploration ✦
We'll close the week with a playful yet potent creative ritual: torch and kiln-firing liquid enamels using sgraffito and charcoal drawing. These symbolic marks can become embedded into small settings and relic-like surfaces — adding another layer of personal storytelling to your work.
✦ THE SETTING ✦
This rare workshop takes place in my private Ohio studio, designed to hold a small circle of makers in a nurturing, focused space.
Just 8 artists will be accepted — so there’s room to go deep, ask questions, and truly unfold your process.
✦ IS THIS FOR YOU? ✦
Yes, if you’re:
• A jeweler or artist ready to develop a personal body of work
• Longing for new creative direction and brave architectural forms
• Curious about wire as a sculptural, expressive, almost poetic medium
• Craving a studio experience where your inner voice is honored as much as your outer craft
• Ready to take risks — and come home to your truest work
✦BONUS ✦
As part of this soul-forward experience, you’ll also be guided through a powerful evening of energy work with Dr. Sam, a gifted practitioner who helps artists align their inner world with their creative voice. This deeply grounding session offers space to integrate the week’s growth on an energetic level. And on the final day, November 9th, you’ll have the rare opportunity to add on a plant medicine experience with Hugh and Sue — a gentle, heart-opening exploration designed to support transformation, embodiment, and connection to the natural world. This optional offering invites you to go even deeper into your story, your intuition, and your creative path.
